Although my contract with HAL doesn't run out until July, I've just landed a new job with a firm of accountants in Southampton, albeit one that doesn't really lend itself well to a pseudonym, the actual name being rather more pseudonymous than anything I could easily come up with :-) 

This means a much shorter commute, a greater variety of what should be more interesting work, and some management responsibility - and an imposing title ("Head of Tax" - though I don't think there's a body attached) :-D

Although I'm technically on a week's notice I'm not starting there for a couple of months.  It doesn't really seem fair on HAL to jump ship just before the year end - and besides, January is the busy season for pesonal tax returns, and I really don't want to get embroiled in that as a newbie ;-)

Well a couple of years in industry is interesting, but I've always wanted to be back in practice, yes :-)
