I remember once reading something about criteria the FBI have for spotting likely letter bombs. Like, they are usually addressed to a position (eg "Chief of Police") instead of a named individual, they have no return address, they are usually exceedingly well wrapped and often have too many stamps on them. There were other criteria too, which I can't remember, but there's probably a list on the internet somewhere....

Interesting article. It's nice to know that the x-ray device we have should detect all things dodgy and that stuff isn't likely to go off just by being handled.
