On optimism

The old question "is the glass half-full or half-empty?", where "it's half-full" makes you an optimist, "it's half-empty" a pessimist, and "it's twice as big as it should be" an engineer: I don't like those answers.
I, as an optimist, would like to see the glass as half-empty. If it's half-full then I've been served a short measure, whereas if it's half-empty I've already had a drink and still have more to come :-D
