Wightfrag 6 - advance notice
Jan. 17th, 2008 01:21 pmA couple of people have asked, so here we go:
LadyofAstolat and I are indeed intending to host another Wightfrag, on the second May bank holiday, as is traditional (23-26 May this year).
All the normal stuff is planned: UT for as many as will, Guitar Hero on the PS2, and Wii Sports probably being the main things.
More details etc to follow nearer the time.

Date: 2008-01-17 03:54 pm (UTC)Might there possibly be some more Wii games by then? I can supply PS2 Guitar Hero 3 and up to two guitars (might make sense to bring spares), and one or two UT2004 capable PCs. I'm assuming that the level of competence of the eight PCs we normally aim for will not be UT3 capable, even if someone on your friends list is boasting on facebook about upgrading her PC to play Bioshock!

Date: 2008-01-17 04:52 pm (UTC)We can keep offer Outside for those foolish enough to believe that it exists.
* Okay. Board game. Or, more likely, half a board game.

Maybe we could get some non-violent board games...

Date: 2008-01-18 02:15 pm (UTC)And is your telly SD, HD-Ready or FullHD?

Date: 2008-01-18 02:18 pm (UTC)It has lots and lots of sockets at the back in addition to the co-ax and Scart ones that I understand. One of them might be something HDish :-D

Date: 2008-01-18 03:09 pm (UTC)It's like how in UT the best bit is hearing cries of "No!" drift up or down the stairs after you've killed someone an inch from the goal. In a board game, it's not just a distant voice drifting up the stairs; you get full visuals, too.

Date: 2008-01-18 03:16 pm (UTC)But no blood or severed limbs :-(
Maybe I should design a board game that has blood & guts :-D

Date: 2008-02-19 01:19 pm (UTC)We will also bring a four year who likes to sit in people's laps when they play games and direct their actions especially where there is a choice of what characters will wear.

Date: 2008-02-19 01:25 pm (UTC)A PS2 we have, but game boys and games for existing consoles would be welcome.
When you say you don't do PCs, I assume that you will do PC games... :-) Everyone likes Unreal Tournament :-D
4 year-old should enjoy Guitar Hero and Rock band... any number of costumes and guitars to play with :-)

Date: 2008-02-24 10:01 am (UTC)Will there be more details nearer the time - i.e., should we bring lilos? a tent? food? beer?
no subject
Date: 2008-02-25 11:29 am (UTC)The quick summary: bring whatever bedding and so on you need, which could range from none (if you're in a B&B or our spare room) to lilos and sleeping bags (if on the floor) to a tent if you want to camp. We can supply some airbeds and bags and so on, though.
Food and drink: LadyofAstolat and I normally lay on a load of beer and some snack food, and something solid for the Friday night and Saturday morning. After that we rely on everyone else and it becomes a bit of a free for all, with some people bringing stuff, at least one supermarket run, and takeaways.
Generally, it's best to sort out who's coming and work things out nearer the time. We tend to have a lot of emails flying around in the last couple of weeks :-) Occasionally it breaks down and we find we have to live on nothing but cheese, or copious qunatities of fruit (over-compensating for the cheese the time before, I think), but mostly it works :-)
