More computer stuff
Jan. 16th, 2008 03:52 pmI was playing Portal last night, which is a very nice little game.
I seem to have managed to switch on the developers' commentary, however, and could find absolutely no way to switch it off. All I could find was things saying it was on, with no option to off it. So that wasted about an hour of fiddling, plus half an hour of replaying the game since the last save I could find without it switched on.
Anyway, the particular bit of commentary I got was along the lines of "game players hardly ever look up, so we put a ladder in here to draw the eye upwards. It'll fall apart as soon as you touch it, but the job is done at that point anyway."
You know why game players don't look up, of course. It's because they've all got widescreen monitors, which chop the up off! :-D
